Project Description

RECIRCLE MED aims to promote sustainable tourism in Mediterranean coastal areas by integrating blue and circular economy principles through local engagement, cross-border cooperation and tailored actions that address key environmental challenges.

Building on the outcomes of past initiatives, namely INCIRCLE (Interreg MED 14/20) and REBOOT MED (EMFAF) projects, RECIRCLE MED provides a structured, step-by-step transfer process to assist coastal destinations in developing and implementing local action plans, adapted to the receiving territories participating in the project.

Expected Results

By completing all the planned activities, RECIRCLE MED will have achieved the following key objectives:

  • Bringing together knowledge and tools from past projects into a single, adaptable product for Mediterranean destinations.
  • Transferring sustainable solutions and facilitating their incorporation into local plans, policies and strategies across diverse territories.
  • Upscaling results to influence political frameworks at the national and European level ensuring long-term change and replicability.

With a consortium composed of 8 partners from 7 Mediterranean countries, and supported by 13 additional key organizations, the project empowers Mediterranean coastal tourism destinations to lead the transition towards a blue and circular tourism model.
